Exceed Africa was pleased to solve an environmental contamination problem creating a health risk to the students of Crawford Sandton, Upstream of the school sewer blockages were contaminating the stormwater in the open stormwater channel. The stormwater channel was also under capacity and being an open channel was also a safety risk to students. Exceed Africa in collaboration with Johannesburg Water and the Johannesburg Roads Agency designed the upgrade of the stormwater system to a culverted underground system for a capacity if 1:100 and the upgrade of the sewer system to handle the flows from the upstream developments without blockages or need for further upgrade through the school. Working within the confines of a high profile school environment and without any injury or hazard tot he pupils while the work was completed. The project successfully opened up more space to the school and removed the sewer contamination and flooding issues and risks to the school.
